Dear friends and loved ones,

Autism affects an estimated 1 in 59 children in the US. It affects Jennifer and I's personal lives and the lives as well as the lives of many of our friends. The ways in which people with autism learn, think and problem-solve can range from highly skilled to severely challenged. Some people with autism may require significant support in their daily lives, while others may need less support and, in some cases, live entirely independently. But in no case is autism considered "a good thing"!

In lieu of wedding gifts, Jennifer and I request those so inclined to make a donation to the Organization for Autism Research. They are a 4-star rated charity, with more than $.80 of every dollar raised spent on program expenses (where you want your donation to go!). O.A.R.'s mission:  "To apply research to the challenges of autism.” Their fundamental objectives: Raise money. Fund research. Change lives. The ultimate goal—making a lasting impact on the lives of children and adults with autism.
