My story begins with a personal goal I wish to accomplish in 2019... before I hit 50! My goal is to participate in 2019 Escape from Alcatraz triathlon! Yes, I have an irrational fear of sharks, but this race is on my list!! This is an AMAZING event because it’s purpose is to give back by incorporating fundraising into the race!
I have teamed up with the Organization for Autism Research (OAR) honoring friends that have been affected by autism. I am thrilled to be a part of the OAR team and to raise money for such an important cause! One in 68 children in the U.S. is diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. As a previous 1st grade teacher in our public school system, I have seen how children with autism can do AMAZING things with support! In order for children to have the support they need...money must be provided. If I do a small part to help children with autism it makes participating in this race even better!
I am asking for your support. All proceeds will go to the Organization for Autism Research to provide resourses for schools, scholarships for individuals diagnosed with autism and to fund research. Every donation, no matter how large or small, will make a difference.
I’m terrified of the swim portion of the race in San Francisco, but while I’m in the water I will keep my mind on the people that have donated to the autism cause (you) and I will know I have accomplished more than a personal goal during this triathlon. My participation will lead to money for a valuable organization! I truly appreciate your kindness and willingness to help. Thank you for your generosity!
