$10,000+ for OAR
On April 28, I will be Running for Autism in the 2019 London Marathon to raise awareness and support for the Organization for Autism Research (OAR). I cannot imagine a better and more personal cause to be supporting for my 10th marathon. Please consider a tax-deductible donation to OAR and help me reach and exceed my $10,000 fundraising goal!
Five years ago, we welcomed our son, Conrad, and his twin sister, Callie, into our lives. In 2016, Conrad was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). With the amazing support from so many of our family members, friends, therapists and teachers, Conrad has made mind-blowing progress on his developmental curve. Supported by an aide, he is now in a mainstream prekindergarten class like his sister.
I know these outcomes are not guaranteed for everyone with ASD. It takes support from family and friends, research studies, applied science, and applied therapies like OAR strives to discover to help treat the myriad symptoms of ASD. For my 10th marathon, I am Running for Autism to help OAR raise awareness and funds to further ASD research so more children can have positive outcomes.
According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 160 children has an Autism Spectrum Disorder. In the United States, per the CDC, the figure is 1 in 59 children with boys 4x more likely than girls. ASD is a range of conditions unique to the individual and is characterized by some degree of impaired social behavior, communication or language, and a narrow range of interests and activities. Please help with your tax-deductible OAR donation to bring more therapies and strategies to individuals and their families struggling with ASD.
