My good friend Max was diagnosed with severe autism when he was two years old. Max has limited verbal and motor skills, sensitivity to sensory stimulus, and difficulty with extended concentration. In 2016, at the age of 17, Max was also diagnosed with stage two Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a cancer of the lymphatic system, and went through four rounds of chemo and radiation. Thankfully, three months after his treatment ended, the tests showed no signs of cancer! Max has graduated from Ridgefield High School as a participant on the swim team. He has beaten cancer. He has grown and developed into an impressive young man despite his disability. In short, Max is a bad ass! Let's swim, ride and run to honor Max and his amazing, loving, generous mother, Shira!
