Dear Family and Friends,
On June 3, I will be participating in a triathlon to raise awareness and hopefully my goal of $2000 to be donated to the Autism community. This particular cause is dear to my heart and as I race to the finish line, I will have one goal in mind - to help those living on the spectrum live full and meaningful lives.
Autism affects 1 in 68 children in the United States. No one knows what causes autism and there is currently no cure for it; however, there are ways of treating the behaviors, especially with early intervention. Because autism is a lifelong condition, the necessary support and treatments change as people on the spectrum go through major life phases. This money will help fund additional research that I am hopeful will one day find the root cause of autism as well as provide support for those living on the spectrum from early detection and intervention through the lifespan.
