This year my daughter Maddie was diagnosed with Autism spectrum disorder and even though I had suspicions leading up to the diagnosis I was still shocked by the news. As I have learned more about Autism I soon realized that Maddie does not have a disability, but rather thinks and learns differently than other three-year-olds. I believe her value to society will be fueled by her endless spirit of positivity and her ability to bring a unique perspective. My goal for this fundraising event is not only to raise money for the Organization for Autism Research but to also bring about a broader awareness of what autism actually is.
