Hi! My name is Ashley Essex. I recently decided to attempt my first 10K, and chose to sign up for the Marine Corps 10K. Since this is my first running event of this distance, I thought raising money for a good cause would give me the motivation to finish the race strong. I chose the Organization for Autism Research for many reasons, one of which is that autism has become so prevalent in our society. Currenlty, 1 in 68 children has an autism diagnosis. The Organization for Autism Research aims to fund research and provide resources to help these children and adults live fuller lives on the autism spectrum. Eighty-seven cents out of every dollar spent by OAR goes dirently to fulfilling its mission, so your donation, even just $5, can go a long way to helping adults and children with autism.
