Autism is something very near and dear to both our hearts. Whitney's little brother Aaron was diagnosed with Autism as a toddler and it has made a lasting impact on Whitney and her family ever since. I have worked with numerous athletes with Autism through my work with both the Minnesota and Missouri Special Olympics and have absolutely loved every minute with all the athletes. We both love Aaron very much and find his view points and outlooks on different topics from animals to the weather to be so unique and inspiring.
Therefore, we are creating this donations page, for those who are interested, to donate to Autism research. Specifically the Organization for Autism Research's (OAR) new initiative and website "Hire Autism." This is a website designed for employers to list jobs soley for people with Autism and then people with Autism can log on and look through the different jobs to find something that fits them. OAR has been rated as one of the best charities for Autism research by Charity Navigator who found that OAR uses 82% of its funds to fund the programs and services it represents and gave OAR a 100/100 for accountibility and transparency.
Please consider donating to this charity instead of buying us gifts for our wedding as we are not even sure what all we will need given we will both be in school for another 5 months. It would mean a lot to both of us to know that people who may not have it as well as us, would benefit from these donations!
